Provided with the knowledge of how to implement founded research into my future clinical practice another goal held by UWM for their students is to be able to apply the scientific knowledge while assessing a patient as well as having a clear understanding of human problems (UWM, 2015). Educated in the problems that an individual may encounter would allow myself to have as much of an understanding of the possible problems that I may encounter with patients within my future. Having prior knowledge of problems that individuals maybe faced with allows myself to research the problems and develop tasks and goals to work through with the patients. A member of the UWM faculty that I would be interested in working with is W. Hobard Davies. He is a faculty member who has conducted his own research and published his findings in 2012 which is called, “Mental Health Services Utilized by Families Adopting Special Needs Children” (UWM, 2015). As well as conducting his own research W. Hobard Davies has also been part of multiple other research studies that have been published which other researchers have conducted. A few of Davies main focuses within psychology are, clinical child and adolescent psychology, community violence as well as child abuse. As well as researching Davies has an interest in teaching courses that focus on the adjustment of children and families that are being affected by severe stress (UWM, 2015). Based off of his research and teaching topics is why I would be interested in working with him. I am interested in working with adolescents and adults that maybe exposed to a variety of stressful or violent events though out their life. Other than possible having a future working with these types of patients I would have the opportunity to be exposed and learn about this specific population while working with
