With each semester I feel I grew as a person and as a future nurse. I gained new knowledge of disease process as well as more in depth knowledge of physical examinations ranging from basic to level IV. I began learning about diseases for which there are no cures. I had a patient in my third semester that was my age and had an acute exacerbation of multiple sclerosis. Brown (2011) believes that mastering the affective dimension of caring, similar to the acquisition of affective knowledge, is built on the premise of hierarchical learning.
