Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a great man and many consider him to be one of the greatest presidents in the history of the United States of America. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only president to ever serve for more than two terms and died in office during his fourth term. Franklin D. Roosevelt is known for successfully getting the country past the events of the Great Depression, and World War II. Franklin D. Roosevelt encountered many enemies in World War II including the Nazis, and he explored the use of nuclear weapons during this war and helped to get America through one of the worst times in its history . Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on the date of January 30th in the year of 1882. Franklin D. Roosevelt was born in Hyde Park which is located in the state of New York. Franklin D. Roosevelt was an only child and was the son of James Roosevelt and Sara Delano Roosevelt who were very wealthy at the time. His family has been wealthy for a very long time. He was provided education at a young age by various tutors and his parents. When he was just fourteen years old, he attended a school in Massachusetts by the name of Groton. Groton was an expensive school and was made up of very wealthy students who had come from very …show more content…
Roosevelt then ran for president again in 1936. He then defeated Alfred M. Landon which showed that the nation fully trusted Franklin D. Roosevelt. In his second Inaugural speech Franklin D. Roosevelt states that" In taking again the oath of office as President of the United States, I assume the solemn obligation of leading the American people forward along the road over which they have chosen to advance"(History matters). Franklin D. Roosevelt is committed to helping the nation flourish. In 1939 Franklin D. Roosevelt becomes the first president to appear on television.
