Theodore Roosevelt Research Paper

Theodore Roosevelt branded his name in America history due to his extensive background in politics; He served as Governor of New York, Vice President, and soon after became the 26th President of the United States. He was the first President to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He accomplished many things during the Progressive Era and it was the beginning for what was to come for America. Theordore Roosevelt was a part of the corporate world and believed there should be regulations put in place for business which sparked trust-bust, the Pure Food and Drug act was established while he was in office, and formed what was called the square deal which is known for the maintaining corporations, consumer protection and the preservation of natural resources. Theordore Roosevelt became President in 1901 and after William McKinley was assassinated in Buffalo, New York. Prior to his term of Presidency he was the Governor of New York in 1858 as well as serve as Vice President. During his Presidency he was able to cut miles for consumers and military personnel from traveling by getting Panama to become independent and no longer under the control of Columbia and was able to dig the Canal which cut off thousands of miles for ships going from New York to California. Roosevelt was for people being treated fairly and reformed the trust acts that went after monopoly businesses, which were the companies that raised their prices on services and different types of products after they would go out and buy all the smaller businesses and that ended up giving a advantage to consumers because all the companies were broken up and no longer could steal from its consumers. “Roosevelt trust policy has been viewed as “progressive” by his contemporaries, dictated by big business by the New Left, and as a precursor to autonomous institutional development”
