I. Introduction
A. Theodore Roosevelt was a very bright person who became involved in politics. He became the 26th and youngest president of the United States.
II. Personal Information A. Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, New York.
B. Theodore was born to the parents of Martha (Mittie) Bulloch Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. His father loved to give and volunteer. Theodore had three siblings. The oldest was named Anna, but went by Bamie, who had a disability. She had a form of tuberculosis which was called Pott’s disease that caused her inability to stand or walk. Theodore’s multiple accomplishments included attending Harvard, where he excelled, was very wealthy, and had many friends, graduating from Harvard, writing and publishing multiple books, and becoming very involved in New York politics. In New York, he was elected the New York Legislature and police commissioner. While governor, he helped to preserve many natural parks and forests. Also, he tried to stop the War of Spain from advancing by organizing a volunteer group called the Rough Riders. They succeeded when they went to Cuba, as the Spanish left Cuba. Later, he was nominated Vice President. The elections were to take place in November, and he was nominated in June. He was Vice President to President William McKinley, who died on September 14, 1901 because he was shot earlier that month. Since the president died, the Vice President, Theodore, became the 26th and youngest president of the United States. While president, Theodore accomplished many tasks such as improving domestic laws to make society a safer place. Some of these laws were to improve railroads, foods, drugs, and relations with places outside of the United States. He signed the Treaty of Portsmouth, which ended the Russo-Japanese War. Because he stepped up and did this, he received the Nobel Peace
