“Executive Action on Gun Control”
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states “a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms should not be infringed” (LII). Gun control in the United States is a topic that has had some criticism due to the violation of the second amendment, but it also has the support by many citizens who want stricter gun control laws due to the rate of mass shootings increasing over the years. As the result of the many school shootings that have taken place in the last few years, there has been an executive action for stricter gun control laws. He concludes with a personal story about a young kid, Zaevion Dobson, who has going to his friends house to play videos and while he was going a man started firing. On the bright side, Zaevion Dobson did something so brave and sacrifice his life to save three girls by shielding them with his back. Obama goes on to explain that that could have happen to anyone 's kids. Obama uses this time personal story to build ethos to explain that reasons like that there needs to be a change and make stricter gun control laws to prevent from things like that happening. In my opinion, I found it effective because he concluded his speech with a type of ethos, strong personal stories, in the same way he introduced his speech. Obama uses this personal stories to support the fact that there needs to be gun control laws due to all the violence occurring in the United States. Overall, President Obama has a purpose to persuade the people to support his executive action on gun control. He does a great job persuading his audience by using ethos, logos, and
