Fifteen years ago, J.K. Rowling introduced the world to the wondrous and magical world of Harry Potter with the release of the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001. The release of each of the movies there after were highly anticipated, all the way up until the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – part 2 which was released in July of 2011. The movies fueled the imaginations of thousands of movie goers. Upon hearing that J.K. Per Allen (2016), while the digital age brought larger and more detailed computer generated effects, they are no less intricate and difficult to bring to life than optical effects were; and that with each advancement in technology it narrows the field into even more specific areas of expertise. The visual effects of the wizards doing spell work is incredible, with just a wave of their wands an entire wall was put back together perfectly within seconds; somehow the glass, wood, and bricks knew exactly where they belonged. One can only imagine the difficulty apparition, which is the fastest and most convenient way to travel if you are a wizard, where they seem to implode and then pop back to normal in a completely different location. The astounding details they put into all the beasts is magical, the Thunderbird is a prime example of the skill these animators possess; this creature was not only gigantic and sporting three sets of wings, the amount of detail in the feathers alone is miraculous. Each feather is a variety of different shades of beige with golden zebra-like stripes which can only be seen when the light hits its feathers from certain angles. They do mention the names of a few wizards that the more die-hard fans may recognize. This is the first installment in this series, the next is due to be out some time in 2018 (so excited!), and the people behind the movie have set the bar quite high. Since American fans now know why their Hogwarts letters did not arrive, since they live in the wrong country to get one, fans can now begin to wonder where their Ilvermorny acceptance letters are and why those did not come. This movie covers an entire spectrum of emotions, laughter and tears, while keeping the audience in captured in this world of magic. With an entirely new cast of characters to get to know, along with plenty of new magical creatures (a few whom are native to America), expertly created at the hands of special effects craftsmen and women, and a completely new theme story wise, this movie is truly a must
