Without term limits, politicians become complacent and stop working for the people by the people. Instead, they work for themselves and their friends. They worry more about getting elected and staying elected rather than working for what is best for the American people and what’s in the best interest for the country. This shows that a vast majority of the American people support having term limits on their leaders. The country right now is being lead by selfish politicians who don’t work for the people anymore. If term limits are implemented, the nation, the people and the government would see not only positive change, but more diversity and more opportunities. According to George Will, the author of Restoration: Congress, Term Limits and the Recovery of Deliberative Democracy, there would be a better chance for different parties to enter Congress if term limits are implemented. Right now, our whole political system is dominated by two parties. If term limits are put in place, third parties would have a better opportunity to get elected because there would be more elections and an increase in the number of representatives entering and leaving. This would give more diversity to our government and let more voices be heard and more Americans be represented fairly. However, there are some that may say the opposite of this claim.
