In order to grow a Sarracenia pitcher plant from seed, you need to have time, and patience. Sarracenia has to be watered with rain or purified water every day or every other day. Never allow the soil to get dry, but you also never want your plant to sit in water. Too much water can make a plant mold causing it to die, or be very difficult to take care of. Sarracenia is a carnivorous plant. Therefore it likes soil with little to no nutrients. The plant gets nutrients from insects! This plant has to be planted in a pot due to the fact it goes through a germination process. When putting sphagnum moss into the pot you want it to be packed full. It will need to be watered before the seeds are planted. Sarracenia seeds are tiny and have a waxy coating over them. Take about 10 seeds and drop them right on top of the soil, do not plant them in the soil. They need sunlight in order to grow. It takes about two or three weeks for the plants to germinate, but when you find a really healthy tall plant take it away from the other plant, and plant it in a larger pot. Repeat the same process with the rest of the plants. Keep them watered especially while their young the sun can dry them out quickly. When plants get larger and start sprouting, it’s time to transplant them into the yard. Dig holes wherever you want this colorful plant to be seen. Put sphagnum moss into the holes and transplant the larger plants into the ground. Once put in the ground they still have to be watered and checked on every other day to makes sure your plant gets the nutrients it needs in order to
