Introduction
In this lab we conducted an experiment in which we created a habitat in which plants grown; We will determine if the plants will grow successfully in this habitat. We will plant “Wisconsin Fast Plant”seeds, also known as (Brassica Rapa). The Wisconsin Fast Plants are a small, fragile sized plant that has a short growing period and produces seeds at a high density. We will observe them as frequently as possible and record the heights each day we make observations. At the end of the experiment we should be able to determine the carrying capacity, if it successfully grew, if it did not grow then why, and identify the factors …show more content…
Fill the top half of the bottle with 400mL of Miracle Grow Potting Soil. ( Make sure the rope is in the middle)
Split the fertilizer spike in half and place them on opposite sides of the fertilizer, under the soil.
Place 3 Wisconsin Fast Plants in between the fertilizer spikes, on the top of the soil.
Place the whole bottle growing system under a lighting bank.
Periodically water plants by adding water to the base of the cylinder
Record plant height by taking a ruler, and measuring from the bottom of the soil to the top of primary stem.
Make daily observations concerning plant …show more content…
The possibilities that we can conclude on why it didn’t grow are endless. Some high factors that could prevent it from growing are that we planted the seed too to the fertilizer spike and it received too many nutrients from it. The most common factor that we can observe is that the environment of the seeds planted was overpopulated. Each seed was competing against other plants for growth by taking the nutrients from the soil and water supply. Other observations that we recorded were that our plants were self-pollinating under our control. To resolve the plants from reproducing we cut off the pods that the plants had been produced. Many plants were either close in growth or far apart in growth. That is when we started to develop outliers in our experiment which separated us from other groups’ data. We did not have any outliers in our experiment, our final measurement for our plants were very close in
