The Regulating Marijuana like Alcohol Act is a bill that would change how marijuana would be viewed from a legal standpoint. The Attorney General would need to issue a final order that removes marijuana in any form from all schedules of controlled substances under the Controlled Substances Act. (opencongress.org) Marijuana would be decriminalized at the federal level, leaving it up to states to regulate it in a way that is similar to the regulation of alcohol.

Decriminalization would make marijuana the nation’s largest cash crop. Outlawing this “product” does not reduce the people’s demand for it or even the overall supply. On the contrary, it simply gives criminals the chance to regulate marijuana in an untaxed market. Now if marijuana was decriminalized then a regulated, legal market could spawn. A legalized market would help keep American dollars in the American Economy instead of it being allocated to international criminal groups. On August 17, 2015 President Obama issued the Executive Order to launch a Presidential Innovation Fellows Program. The premise of the executive order is to “attract the brightest minds skilled in technology or innovative practices to serve in the Federal Government to work on some of the Nation’s biggest and most pressing challenges.” (The Whitehouse) This program is supposed to serve as encouragement to successful entrepreneurs and innovators to join the Federal Government and help establish meaningful solutions that would positively impact the American people.
This order was issued so that “we can keep building a government that’s as modern, as innovative, and as engaging as our incredible tech sector is” (Obama) The President is searching for bold ideas to benefit the American
