Employee performance appraisals are an important part of any organization. As it is beneficial to both, employees and the organization as a whole, this is one way to help refine the goals of the organization. Performance appraisals help create an open barrier between the employer and employee. Conducting annual performance appraisals are a good way to show the areas of weakness as well as the strength each employee contributes to their position. In order to understand how effective appraisals can be, it is important to recognize the strategic advantages of performance appraisals, potential forms of bias within the appraisal system, and how performance appraisals can contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives.
