Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBDs) are long term conditions that have markedly adverse impacts on a child’s academic performance. According to Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2012), the conditions that classify one as an EBD are related and not limited to difficulties in learning that are not traced to intelligence, sense or health reasons. They are also difficulties encountered in building and progressing of satisfactory mutual relationships with peers and instructors. The current study used the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) to examine EBDs in a sample of 323 school students. Statistical techniques like factor analysis, Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Cronbach’s alpha test reflected that SDQ instrument had both internal and external validity as well as reliability. The study was aimed at assessing EBDs among school students in the Sultanate of Oman through having a psycho-social analysis of emotional and behavior problems of school going students. The study used data analytic techniques like frequency tables, graphs, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and ANCOVA tests in analyzing the data and drawing inferences objectively. The study realized that there was significant difference between males and females in emotional symptoms and hyperactivity dimensions of EBDs.
