Having an electoral college allows equality throughout the United States, as an example, people that do not work or have a little to no income still have a say in who they believe should govern. The geography and religion are also factors of who people vote for and that allows not just the majority to win. Electoral colleges also direct more power to the states as they are the ones voting and have an overall vote. Some may argue that it is too complex but it gives a more accurate representation as it takes into consideration population. The reasons behind this statement are that without the electoral college our presidential election would practically be pointless; therefore, our president would basically just be decided by California and New York, making everybody else's opinions float in the dust. The geography of people really changes their views on things. Like farmers are different than a dentist thus they are obviously going to have different votes. The South is totally for the death penalty and more of the upper states, like Minnesota are not. If you live on a lake you are going to have a different view that someone who lives in a big city. If you are Catholic or you are Jew you are going to have different views, black or white, etc. There are a lot of factors that affect people's votes and without the electoral college populated areas will more than likely win the
