Birth tourism is when an individual moves or travels to another to country to give birth t here. The area in the USA which is seeing the most of birth tourism is Los Angeles California. George Will states that Congress has heard testimony estimating that more than two-thirds of all births in Los Angeles public hospitals, and more than half of all births in that city, and nearly 10 percent of all births in the nation in recent years, have been to mothers who are here illegally”.
The country where most activities can be sought is china. As stated by Matt Sheehan no reliable data exists on the number of Chinese births in the U.S, but estimates by industry publications projected a total of 60,000 for 2014, a six fold increase over 2012. Also according to Sheehan activities can be seen from people or immigrant families from Latin America seeking economic opportunities in the United States. Also John Feere states that other countries include Taiwan, Nigeria, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey and Russia.
Some of the pros of tourism births are that the migrants do contribute to the economic activities in the United States some of them buy goods while they are here to have their babies, some pay hotel bills or rent apartments, some do pay hospital bills, and services which they use, hence promoting businesses.
