Teachers “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” A great leader Nelson Mandela stated this. Education is tremendously valuable and plays a large part in today’s society. The ability to learn and grow as a person is something people should never take advantage of, however they do it on a daily basis. The ability to attend school and get an education today is under-appreciated in society, which makes the profession of teaching in the United States an get underpaid profession. In some cases, the only students allowed to be educated is the male of the culture. All the way through school, students are provided the opportunity to have direct instruction and learn math, reading, writing, foreign languages, history classes, science classes, etc. This enables students to broaden their horizons, discover passions, and hopefully find a career path somewhere in one of those subjects. The people teaching the students these subjects, their teachers, are pouring out their passion, with direct instruction, teaching what they love and are passionate, to students to hopefully show them the brighter side of a math class or history class and hopefully, peaking an interest in the subject. This is probably the greatest thing about teachers. The more teachers you ask, “Why do you teach if you don’t make that much money?” The response would be, “We love watching kids learn, and help them grow as people.” Learning Spanish, or the Pythagorean theorem is not why teachers teach. Teachers get paid less According to NEA.org, or the National Education Association, the average first year teacher salary is $30,377, compared to other fields with similar requirements and training with nurses at $45,570, pPublic accounting professionals at $44,668, and computer programmers at $43,635. Even with teachers gaining more experience in the classroom, they still do not gain that much more money throughout the duration of their careers.
Teachers’ salary is just that a salary, it does notn’t include all the extra hours they spend in the classroom, or at home grading papers, tests, or working on lesson plans, or the extra tutoring sessions, or the help with extra- curricular activities. With a multitude of responsibilities, insane hours like these, this leads to collective bargaining talks with teachers, and their state governments. These conversations provide dialogue for the premise of a salary worthy of the expertise as well as amount of time to be good at what they are experts in
