Driving is a constant part in most of our lives. In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau many Americans now spend more than 100 hours a year just commuting to work. Operating our vehicles as safely as possible should be important to everyone but more often drivers are distracted by everything from loud music, applying makeup, eating food, and most commonly utilizing their phones. These distractions alongside poor driving techniques are causing many of the accidents that happen every day. Studies show drivers who text while driving are more likely to become involved in a crash and most acknowledge human error as the most common cause of roadway fatalities. Many state departments of transportation across the United States have moved away from the term “accidents” altogether instead choosing to labeling them “incidents”. The best way to decrease the risk of being involved in an auto accident is to practice safer driving behaviors. Whether you 're just learning to drive or you have been driving for a while, it is a good habit to know basic strategies for safe driving.
