Malcolm S. Forbes once said, “The biggest mistake people make in life is NOT making a living doing what they most enjoy.” Since I was a child, I always wondered what I would do when I grew up. Did I want to be a dentist, veterinarian, doctor, or cosmetologist? I had no idea, but this past year I strongly and whole-heartedly decided what I was going to do. My junior year I enrolled in a Certified Nurse’s Assistant course; I really had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I soon found out. The first day of class we learned about what we’d be doing, and in a way, this excited me. Taking care of people in the nursing home sounded gratifying. I knew that I’d be helping people on a daily basis, and that made me feel good about myself. …show more content…
Harris that spoke to me every time I visited, and during one of those conversations he really made an impact on my views of life. We discussed many topics that made me realize that he is one of the most extraordinary people I have ever met. He talked about life, and how you should enjoy it; he explained to me that the best thing you could do was to get a job that you loved doing and be successful at it. The gentleman was one hundred and one years old and very wise beyond my years. It made me realize that the man’s mental ability could not be judged due to his age. I became attached and knew that I wanted to help people and become close to them; it’s the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Becoming a Certified Nurse’s Assistant is one of many choices I’ve made in my life, and by joining this class and taking care of people I’ve finally realized what I want to do when I grow up. More than anything I want to care for people and help them; therefore I plan on getting a degree in nursing. Like Mr. Harris said, “Do something you love doing, and be successful at it!” Caring for people is what I want to do, and is what I enjoy to the highest
