The psychological as well as the physical effect of chronic sexual abuse will be strictly analyzed to determine how it negatively shapes the victim in the years they are transitioning into their teen years.
The Types of Abuse
Although we will only be analyzing the physical and psychological effects of child abuse, it is critical to acknowledge that there are four main types of child abuse. They are categorize into four different sections: sexual, neglect, emotional, and physical.
I.Sexual Abuse
As defined in the Handbook of Child Safety Independent School Leaders[ Written by Anthony P. Rizzuto and Cynthia Crosson-Tower in hopes of providing information, guidance and support regarding the conflicts and responsibilities in identifying and dealing with child abuse.], sexual abuse is the “appropriate adolescent or adult sexual behavior with a parent”. It includes touching a child’s private areas, kissing, exposure to pornography, incest, rape, sodomy, and sexual exploitation. It had been documented that “more than one in three children aged 11-17 (34%) who experienced sexual contact by an adult did not tell anyone about it” (Radford, 2011).
