Child sexual abuse is a heinous crime which has been committed since ancient civilization and is still happening every day in today’s world. It is a form of child abuse that includes sexual activity of an adult with a minor. It is such a crime that can devastate the victim’s whole life. A child who goes through sexual abuse can be mentally destroyed. These dangerous effects of abuse vary from child to child. The play “How I Learned to Drive” by Paula Vogel showcases on how a child can be abused and what are the many consequences the victim has to face by the abuse. It is perfectly okay to trust your own family and leave your children with them. However it is also true that children’s have been misused by their grandfather, close family friend, uncle or sometimes by their own father. It is very important for parents to observe how others behave with their child. It is also necessary to questioning the child about how others behave with them when parents are not around. Abuser can abuse a child in many different ways which a child won’t even notice, but abusers will certainly take satisfaction out of it. Parents should teach their child in advance about their body parts, which should not be allowed to touch by anyone else except their mother. If someone else touches their private body parts, children should be taught to tell that to their parents immediately. Parents shouldn’t be over strict with their children so that their children can express themselves easily without getting scared. Because many times the perpetrator gives fear in children’s heart saying that they did something wrong and they should not disclose this with their parent. Parents should create that trust in their children that their parent will support them no matter what.
