America is known as the land of the free. Our country was founded on freedom. Our government was created with freedom in mind. But as our country continues to develop in newer, harsher times, our freedoms are slowly being taken away from us. The American dream that so many people strive for always seems just out of reach. America in general is not as strong as it once was. If America continues on its same path, it will no longer be the great, thriving country it is. Simply stated, democracy is a government system in which people vote for who they want to work in their government. Democracy could also be loosely described as freedom. In America, if you are an American citizen, then you can vote for who you would like to represent your country …show more content…
There are now limitations on that freedom that were not there when our country was founded. I feel that there are certain things our society has forbidden people to talk about. Political issues are rarely discussed in public anymore in the fear that we might offend someone. Same sex marriage, abortion, race and gender inequality are a few things that our society has blown out of proportion but at the same time, does not feel comfortable conversing about as so not to offend their fellow citizens. Protests are frowned upon and are usually ended with force. America is striving for political correctness and because of that, the victory that is our free speech is not permanent. Our founding fathers strived for spiritual correctness instead of political correctness and I feel that America should go back to …show more content…
Our government took prayer out of schools. Teachers are not allowed to pray or talk about their religion to their students. Our society has begun criticizing Christians. While that may be their opinion, other religions are not being criticized like Christianity. Other religions are being welcomed into our society. Other religions can be practiced here in America because of our freedom of religion but there should not be a religion that is looked down upon in a society that practices this right. The liberals of our society may not be specifically against freedom of religion, but they are against the spread of a religion. The want to confine religion “to the four walls of a house of worship for a few hours on Sundays.” If American’s are free to practice their religion, then there should be no restrictions as to when and where that religion can be
