Definition of Leadership
The definition of leadership I most identify with and try to emulate is that of GENERAL George Washington. He believed in his men and along with that respect came the expectation that he believed in them therefore he expected them to come through. He states “if there are no consistent response in terms of guidance and discipline, we will eventually lose our edge as leaders.” Once we lose our edge or the respect of those we lead we have effectively lost our ability to lead. When that happens it is near imposable to regain. It has been my experience that consistency is vital to effective leadership, if you are not consistent in your leadership, those you lead will not know what to expect from you or what you expect

As difficult as that time was I learned a great deal from those men, about what kind of leader I was never going to be. On the other hand I have had some truly inspiring leaders in this organization also. Not only did they challenge me as a young petty officer to be the example for those junior to me, but empowered me to mentor those members and make and follow through with leadership decisions based on their goals they set for themselves. These inspiring men instilled in me that as you rise in rank in this organization, you must help those junior to you advance also. All of these motivating leaders always had my best interests in mind and at heart at all times. On many occasions they spent their precious free time mentoring me through some very difficult personal and professional challenges. The lessons I took from these great men are the example I strive to meet as a leader. I will continue to develop and evolve my leadership acumen based on these lessons, I also believe this process will never end. The way you lead will continue to progress and evolve as long as you are willing to learn from feedback given and make changes as needed based on the necessities of those you …show more content…
95% of the time I don’t get any feedback other than “I got nothing Senior” other times I get some feedback to work on for the next marking period. I write that feedback down and make a conscious effort to work on improving that deficiency. The next time I give marks counseling to my members I will pose the question the same way it was written on the LPI and hopefully I will get some feedback on how to improve this deficiency. And I will continue to request feedback from my

Throughout history the National Honor Society has become synonymous with the best of the best. A school club that has built a legacy on students who exemplify the ideals of leadership, service, character, and citizenship. To even be considered for a group of this nature would be an honor within itself. Leadership is simply defined as the action of leading a group of people or an organization however, I believe leadership to be much more than simply being in charge. True leadership is simply more than being bossy and I have learned this through my experiences within boy scouts.…

Leadership doesn’t necessarily have to be grandiose or significantly impactful. It can be displayed more casually or in a school environment like in my US History class. My table was often rowdy, which can be a problem when there was group work to complete. As a result, I constantly found myself assigning tasks to different people and managing their progress. One of the tasks of a leader is to make sure everyone does their part to achieve the end goal.…

As Stojkovic and his colleagues point out, “leadership is a process that effectively accomplishes organizational goals.” As clearly and eloquently stated, leadership is not something that can be accomplished in a day or two. Instead, it is process that takes time and demands patience, think of it like a married couple who are through a rough patch in their marriage and they decided to see a marriage counselor to help them improve. The marriage counselor will see their problems and give them some exercises to work on. Simply put, leadership is like that.…
