One lady in the video had a baby, and her sister an African American said "girl I'm glad she didn't come out dark". The battle between light skinned and dark skinned still goes on today, I have witnessed many of my friends or just people I happen to be talking to at the moment say I don't date dark skinned boys because they are too dark or I don't date dark skinned girls because I'm light skinned, how I would look dating someone that's lighter than I am. In our black community we have lack of unity, we don't see each other a part of the community because we don't have a language. Age range 8-17 feel that they're not good enough or don't measure up into their physical appearance. Colored girl’s battles were different from the boys, because males didn't have to go through with being called ugly or not being light enough. Some girls had problems being black. Most thought that they could wake up to having a lighter skin complexion, or even thought it was just dirt on them because of their skin
