A teacher job is to help all students to be successful in their learning, and this is a huge challenge that requires advanced thinking. Particularly those student with different cultural background can be difficult to understand and be tough on the transition. It is necessary for teachers to balance student’s needs, this way the teacher will recognize the level at which individual students are in. This will provide proper levels of challenge for all students. This will accommodate the differences among the student’s cultures. Teachers who have students that are culturally diverse should identify the students’ individual and cultural differences in a constructive manner. The students were all motivated, working for a few days and wanted to talk about their countries and what food their parents or grandparents would cook for them. This shows that the teacher wants to learn more about them and connect with them. I can see and identify myself that the background and experiences of the students influence their motivation and class engagement of wanting to learn because the teacher balanced all students’ needs. I also noticed that the teacher knew how difficult it is to teach sixth grade because of the diversity of her class. Some students come from other schools and countries to learn a new language. This is why she likes to give extra time on test for those students who speak English as a second language. Another great example which I keep using because I believe teacher religious faith position and academic perspective does not mix well. Yet I see from my fieldwork that the teacher can adapt to the school requirement. For instance, Bible Studies: the teacher understands and lets the students interpret the Bible differently. She tests for material, not for beliefs, thus satisfying school requirements and respecting students’ deferring beliefs. I’m assuming that the parents would put their child in a Christian doctrine even though they have different beliefs because the parents are looking for a better
