Counselling Session Reflection

In the group video the practitioner has skill of having experience in counselling session because the way she was talking to the group she was able to keep the group together, she had knowledge of resources in the surrounding areas that would be beneficial to her clients. The fact that she reframed what they talked about with the group shows she was interested and ready to help them achieve their goals as they all seemed to have issues with childcare. She informed the group that it is their group so they take over with what they want to do as far as snacks and childcare options they might want to consider. She was paying attention to the group through listening to the group suggestions and offering them responses that will benefit the clients. …show more content…
The group was well held together and no client felt as if they were left unattended.

I liked the group session mainly because the practioner was able to inform one of the client who was talking even when it was not her turn that everyone don’t have to write notes. The practioner was well informed and she portrays her empathy to her clients when she informed them of resources that are available to be used in the area.
I liked the video and is a good example to me on how to deal with a group therapy. I was impressed that she was on time to end the group and she had enough time to summarize what they have talked with the group.

On the individual video that I watched, I was draw close by the practioner skills as she expressed herself to the client and by offering a hand to hold showed she cared and this can make the client feel welcomed. I noticed she was very professional and gentle all through the

Session five was a big stepping stone for me, I believe I asked questions that guided her and properly validated her feelings, not to mention my powerful use of silence during the whole session. This reflection will shift gears from how I originally lay out my reflections. I usually express the goals I said I would work on and then share the progress I made during the succeeding session. However, I shared my uncertainty about where to take our session after the last one. I believe this doubt helped session five unfold the way it did.…

Alex’s Client Feedback for Keni Similar to last session I think it was generally a good session. Being in the client’s chair was still awkward for me, but less so than last time, I feel. Kenny also seemed more comfortable and confident in her role as helper, which made me feel good because I hate having people around me uncomfortable. As I said in my last feedback, Keni has a ton of great potential in the helper role and now that she is feeling more confident in that role and we have met and chatted before I see that only growing. Kenny has taken the skills we have learned about in class and has made them her own, for example, she utilized smart goals to challenge me to plan ahead and envision success which was useful.…

What? I came into this course with very little background knowledge about health coaching and I was pleasantly surprised at how powerful this process can be. As a coach, I experienced success and setbacks throughout the process—both of which were crucial in learning to become a better health coach. From the beginning of the coaching process, my client and I achieved many successes. My client was motivated and willing to make a change, which is a major step in the coaching process.…

While presenting my groups Rad Town presentation, I saw plenty things that we did well and things we could have improved on or changed. All in all I feel that we had a well rounded presentation. During Dallas’ portion, I think he was a little to loquacious for the good of our project. We could have done a better job helping him explain some of the bigger words and objects that he mentioned. We also could have helped him round up some of his points.…

    Therapist Reflection

Thus far, I have learned many important aspects of becoming an effective therapist. One of the major parts of training involves evaluation and feedback from supervisors or peers. I think evaluations are an important part of training because it provides feedback to areas, which you are doing well in, and areas in which you will need improvement. I believe that without evaluations, we as therapist cannot grow into effective therapist. To date I cannot think of any job or career that does not use “end of the year evaluations”.…

Teamwork and collaboration, good communication, and confidence are the three strengths I believe I demonstrated during this rotation. My clinical rotation as a student nurse did not only imply observing the providers, but also meant active participation on my part. Being engaged, enabled me to put into practice what I have learned in theory. The first day of my rotation, the nurse permitted me to augment the Pitocin dose by two units after 20 minutes. I thought that was exciting because I learned about the medication in the class and participated in administering it.…

In matching Janet’s posture, language and tone, I reflected back to Janet her external behaviours. When I commented to Janet “and because you know that at the base of it’s not you it’s him” I put into my words her thoughts regarding his behaviour. Janet’s response of “well that’s the thing, I don’t let it affect me anymore…” allowed her to then explore why her reactions to her ex-husband had changed. I found this skill of counselling particularly difficult in this session due to our friendship.…

In the interview as with Client A we explored the issues of work-life balance, stress and poor diet, from a Nutritional Medicine modality. The interview flowed perfectly throughout the time frame and in my opinion I was able to develop a rapport and trust with Client A. Overall my skills throughout the interview displayed professionalism, and a friendly non- judgemental approach.
The interview commenced with an initiation which included greeting the client, gaining informed consent and an overview of how the session would run. In the future I must remember to enquire about the clients past history of visiting a nutritionist and ensure my limitations are clear.…

When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…
