I think evaluations are an important part of training because it provides feedback to areas, which you are doing well in, and areas in which you will need improvement. I believe that without evaluations, we as therapist cannot grow into effective therapist. To date I cannot think of any job or career that does not use “end of the year evaluations”. This shows how important evaluations are for growth in your career. From my experience, I have enjoyed the receiving evaluations from professors and supervisors. It has helped me tremendously improve in my training. In …show more content…
I think there are still areas, I would like to improve in. specifically, learning to co-facilitate with my supervisor, learning to engage the client on a more deeper level, and implementing different techniques in therapy. The first one is important because, sometimes I find myself in-group nervous to say something or not knowing what to say. I have had talks about this in-group supervision, and I understand that co-facilitating is an art and it takes time to master. I am looking forward to growing more in this area, so I can feel more confident in having great sessions with my clients and my supervisor. The next area of improvement would be to lean from my supervisor ways to allow the client to dig deeper with different phrases and techniques. I think after observing her, I think she has the best way to phrase certain questions, which I would like to improve on. The last are of improvement is to be comfortable implementing other techniques from other modalities. Primarily we focus on DBT, however some of y clients are not as receptive to DBT, so I would love to gain more experience in using other modalities for these clients. I think I will always have areas I want to improve in, but I think these are the basic areas that will help me feel confident in my efficacy as a beginning

In my problem solving style, I need to lean more towards the sensation-feeling style, because as I have already stated I need to focus more on the people rather than the tasks. I also need to worry about benefiting the people more. For my leadership style, I am very direct. I feel like I could be a better leader if I was a happy medium between directing and supporting style. I need to encourage, support, consult with, and develop my employees’ skills and confidence, so it will boost their confidence more.…

I now also feel I have the skills to help encourage the employee to talk rather than you doing all the talking, and you have to be able to develop goals and objectives that are appropriate and relevant for the individual. By asking the right questions and persisting with open questions, they do eventually start to talk. How will I use what I have learnt? I think the skills I have learnt will prove useful not only when conducting appraisals, but in other situations such as interviews and disciplinaries. Both of these situations require the use of good questioning and listening skills and I think that I will be much more confident in my ability to engage employees in open conversation in the future.…

Overall, I am glad I have learned about these standards. I was not aware of these standards. I would make an effort to focus on a few at a time and set personal goals to become well-rounded in each one of the standards. I know I can be good at the standards, but I would use my resources as well as a great leadership team to help me make sure that each standard is met. I am very open about asking for help when I need it, and as a leader I would do the same to show others that I am not the only one with all the answers and that I am always looking to…

Whether it is mood, trauma or stress disorders, unhealthy relationship cycles, personality disorders or other troubles, I believe that as a skilled therapist, I will be able to help my clients build a healthier and more peaceful way of life. I am not under any illusion that this profession is easy, or consistently gratifying, or not emotionally draining, but I do believe in the power of therapy, especially for those who are serious in their intentions. After gaining experience in private practice, I plan to open an agency where I will supervise, encourage, and inspire a new generation of therapist interns. I anticipate building life-long relationships within the mental health community, to collectively execute effective programs for populations that otherwise would not have access to therapy or would have strong reservations about it. Being fortunate enough to have a multicultural background and spending years working with diverse populations, gives me the awareness of the therapeutic needs of cultures that are not readily accepting of it…
