The progress of the project will also need to be communicated to management and the customer. This will be done in many different ways. The project manager will receive updates from the staff weekly regarding their schedule and budget progress. On a monthly basis the project manager will report each department’s progress to the management staff along with the customer. A meeting will be held the first Monday of each month that will bring the management, customer, and project manager together. This will allow for face to face communication to update and address any issues. Also, at the end of each business week the project manager will be required to send a brief email to the management staff to just ensure that the project is on schedule …show more content…
Corrective action is used to identify and eliminate the cause of a problem, in order for it to not occur again (Business Dictionary, 2016b). The form of corrective action will depend on the situation. Corrective actions that will need to occur in regards to employees violating company policy will be laid out within the policy handbook in order to make the decision making process simple and standard. If corrective action needs to occur in regards to schedule or budget than the project manager might need to confide in the management staff and/or the customer. The budget or schedule may need to be modified in order to provide corrective action. For example, if the schedule is being delayed due to the completion of plumbing taking longer than anticipated a corrective action of increasing the amount of staff members might be necessary. By adding additional staff members this will help to increase productivity by allowing for more labor to complete the necessary tasks and will aid in getting the project back on schedule. The methods of corrective action will include identifying the issue, why it occurred, and making implementations to correct the issue along with preventing further issues. When corrective actions need to occur this will not be a sole decision made by the project manager. This can be done in many different ways and is an ongoing process. Some strategies to manage expectations are to be honest, anticipate the client’s needs, communicate, and provide reports (Scranton, 2013). By being honest with the customer and staff on what is to be expected of them will help to manage expectations. This can be done by keeping goals realistic and informing management of unrealistic goals and by providing means to make the goals obtainable. By communicating with the customer and staff this also aids in managing expectations. This is done with staff members by the project manager going over the daily and weekly schedule with them. Also, allowing them access to the Gantt chart and the projects schedule will aid in communicating what is expected from them. Also, by having meetings with the management along with the customer will aid in their knowledge of what to expect during the construction process. Providing reports will also aid in managing expectations. By keeping the customer and management informed about what is occurring throughout the construction process this will give everyone an idea of what to expect. The reports will help the provide information on what is complete, any issues that have occurred, corrections made, along with the schedules progress. By keeping the members informed of what is occurring they know what to expect in the next steps of the
