Competencies between BSN & ADN
RN Stands for the registered Nurse, and BSN stands for Bachelor of science in Nursing. I graduated in India (RN) in 1999. After my graduation I realized I wanted to do BSN because of more scope. I came United State and I saw a big Difference between RN and BSN. After BSN to many options open for us. Like a good scope for education and management and we get master degree and can apply for master’s- or doctoral-level programs. Associate Degree are 2-year programs and BSN is 4-years programs. If you have an RN license, then it becomes only 2-year. And BSN program price more to comprehensive than the ADN program. Before RN and BSN needs to give the NECLEX-RN (National Council License Examination) The NCLEX is the main access for nursing training.

The main difference between ADN or BSN is a skill. BSN becomes training for management, leadership, Research and educator. As an RN nurse can work with different hospital with different area but can’t manage them. So only BSN can go with management, charge and supervise the area. The ADN, which was founded by Mildred Montag due to severe shortage of nurses was considered to fix practical bedside nurses for secondary care settings such as community hospital and long term health care facilities.
