The government is more realistic in Animal Farm than in the story Anthem. In Animal Farm, the pigs slowly take over the once democratic government, and what was once “All animals are equal” becomes “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.” On the other hand, Anthem takes a completely different approach. Equality 7-2521 learns that he is a worthwhile being, and that he should be proud that he is better than his brothers.…

Here's a question what is something that you would risk your life for to prevent it from getting taken away? To stand up to the ruling powers in society to protect a belief you hold dear. For many people it would be a loved one, a prized possession, or an infraction on your unalienable rights as specified by our Founding Fathers . For the animals in Animal Farm it was the idea of living free of human rule that made them fight to the Death to capture and protect their new freedom. While George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and Peter Weir’s The Truman Show may be very different texts, they both look into three particular themes: The good life, a good society, and the justification of power and control. While they may not agree on all of the themes, they both look into them quite deeply, and have some interesting thoughts and views on the three topics. What is the good life for an Individual: In the Truman Show, the concept of the good life is one where the individual is free. Life may be simple, or easy, but if it’s under too much control, it’s not the good life.…

The apparent theme that often strides for equality take away from individual rights is evident in George Orwell’s Animal Farm and Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451. In both works, examples of independent thought being restricted as a sacrifice for fairness continue to be obvious in both stories. In Fahrenheit 451, Beatty explains that books must be burned in order to let tolerance for all prevail in society. It states, “colored people don’t like Little Black Sambo. Burn it.…

The very first notable difference exists within Jessie, a character in the book that does not play a role farther than having puppies, yet exists as the more caring character of the movie that watches over Boxer and other animals. Primarily, the mobile, spy-like character comes as a female dog close to Jones on the farm, yet a reliable companion to the other animals. She gives birth to her puppies that Napoleon takes in for special tutorage, which in turn causes her to sneak around the farm to search for her hidden puppies. In her searches she stumbles upon the pigs breaking the commandments before they change, and attempts to spread the word to other animals that Animal Farm will fall very quickly back to its old ways if the pigs are not confronted about their misleadings ways. In the end of the story for the movie, Jessie leads as many animals as she can away from the tyranny that Napoleon commanded, and returns after his fall to new owners and caretakers of the farm.…

Aside from the obvious species differences in the characters of Animal Farm and 1984 (animals and humans), the characters of both books offer an interesting comparison. Napoleon, great leader of the animal rebellion, mirrors many of the authority figures in 1984, such as Big Brother, leader of the Party, or O’Brien, member of the privileged Inner Party. O’Brien in particular offers a good contrast to Napoleon. Both the pig and the man share the dubious characteristic of hiding behind an identity that promotes hope among the masses. O’Brien pretends to be a member of a secret resistance society, the Brotherhood, and easily fools Winston and Julia into trusting him, ultimately sealing their doom. Napoleon is less subtle, but all of rights…
