Dan Rather said, “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity” (Rahman). A college degree is significant to a person’s success, as clothes are significant to a person’s first impression. In today’s society, it is certain that college education degree is the foundation of success and survival. Therefore, I support that a college degree is beneficial. A college degree provides a sense of learning gains, job opportunities and earnings. Some of the greatest benefits of a college education are actually experienced during school. Students receive broad knowledge of world history, geography and socio-economy that proves to be relevant and useful throughout their entire lives ("What is the Value of a College Degree?). Critical thinking and the ability to form an opinion based on the methods of deduction are also two other important skills one gets to acquire in the course of attending college ("What is the Value of a College Degree?). According to Ernest Pascarella and Patrick Terenzini, studies shows that students become more mature and knowledgeable and focused during college in thinking about planning for a career (282).
