On many issues, the candidates ' positions align with the political platform of their party. Here’s a look at where the two candidates stand on some of these issues. Clinton is pro-choice. She has backed legislation to codify Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to abortion. She opposes a proposed ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Trump is pro-life. Donald Trump says he believes abortion should be illegal except in cases of rape, incest, or when a pregnant woman’s life is endangered. He supports a ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy and cutting off federal funding to Planned Parenthood unless clinics stop performing abortions. Lists he has released of potential Supreme Court nominees have included many judges who oppose abortion rights.
