Leaders can be characterized in many different ways, but they all seem to possess the same foundational characteristics that enable them to be effective, influential, and powerful leaders. Therefore leaders should exemplify and stand resolutely behind the values that they believe in thus exhibiting them in their every thought, word, and action. These morals and values mold a leader’s inner core and influence the decisions that are made each day. Leadership can be described as the progression of social influences by which an individual can enlist the assistance of others to achieve a mutual goal. While employees are expected to competently complete workplace tasks in an efficient manner, they are also expected to think creatively and independently. Thus employees are encouraged to continually examine the organizations policies and procedures. Therefore if an employee feels that they have come up with a whole in a policy or procedure, it will be addressed with enthusiasm instead of brushed off. In fostering this kind of work environment employees are motivated to do the best work the possibly can while learning and growing with the organization. Chrissy believes that the only way for an organization to truly succeed is by the evolution of its employees, because they are the backbone that makes the organization function on a daily basis. It is with a solid relational foundation that the company will be able to start working towards its greatest mission in excelling in all parts of patient care. Also, Chrissy strongly feels that a staff that treats each other like family will be better equipped to treat their patient base like family because this attitude is ingrained in every detail of workplace involvement. This she feels is imperative to the success of the organization, thus she is not afraid to remove an employee that does not demonstrate these attitudes and attributes while at work. Therefore she tries to give employees a share in responsibility when making organizational decisions about an employee or that employee’s job description. Chrissy feels that this helps to make the employee more accountable for their decisions and actions within the organization. Additionally this type of responsibility fosters autonomy and thinking outside the box, both traits that she values in her employees. She has stated time and time again that she does not hire employees to babysit them but to complete organizational tasks in the most efficient way they can. If an employee is unsure about a task, Chrissy will help walk them through it. At no point does she coddle them by handing them the play book to completing their job assignments. Consequently she does realize that this can set certain employees up for disaster, but she tries to instill the tools necessary to help them work through the problems themselves. She hopes that this will initiate creativity and imagination in her employee’s problem solving approaches. Thinking outside the box and solving problems is a highly valued skill in our organization. She wants her employees to feel like the can come to her but only after they have exhausted every avenue they see possible. We are encouraged to take educated risks and are not chastised if we fail. In
