That's right, they actually pay to hunt humans. Picture a large game hunt but factor in high-tech equipment such as night vision goggles, trackers and expensive rifles. And of course, the prey is a human being with a family, a job and a life. If the unfortunate subject manages to escape then their families will be killed. It is assumed therefore that the families will live if they prey is killed. However, after reading the novel and learning about the trail it is truly hard to believe that their families, who know the truth, will be spared if the prey is killed leaving Chris in a difficult catch 22 situation and building the tension in this very novel to its absolute limit as the reader struggles to see a way out of the conundrum. The very nature of humanity is brought into intense scrutiny in this novel as we explore the psychology of a person that is capable of such atrocities, the dehumanisation of our fellow man, the corrupting influence of money and power and the extent to which we, as humans, will go to protect our …show more content…
All in all it is a brilliant and relentless read that will leave you enraptured and waiting with baited breathe until the very end and I would certainly recommend it to those who are a fan of exercise, thrillers and the dark side of humanity. I thought I had discovered the best of Tim Lebbon in his book "The Silence" however this gripping thriller has thrown a wrench into the works and now I find myself inescapably compelled to explore more of Mr Lebbon's
