Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays in China. Chinese New Year is one of the most important day of the year because it helps bring the family together. Chinese New Year is very different from other New Year because it is a more traditional celebration. Chinese New Year day falls on a different day each year, unlike the regular New Year. Chinese New Year helps bring the Chinese culture together and it is the day where all the family members come together for an annual reunion and dinner. This gathering and reunion helps build family relationships and family bonding.

The Chinese rely a lot on the Chinese calendar to determine the day of Chinese New Year. The calendar was created in 1582 by the Georgian calendar. The Chinese calendar determines the phrases of the equinoxes and the Chinese zodiacs. There are 12 zodiacs of the calendar and they are the “rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.” (History 1) These 12 animals represent the rotating 12 year cycle. Dragon is the one of most people like zodiac sign and in the year of the dragon of the Chinese calendar, a baby boom occurs.
