Thanksgiving Extra-Credit Assignment My family has never been big on the holidays- I almost always spend them at a friend’s home. This year, I went to my friend Alex’s home for Thanksgiving alongside my friend Jay. Alex and Jay are frankly some of the greatest friends I can ask for, and going in to thank them I knew they would take it light-heartedly and make a joke out of it. Before we sat down for dinner, the three of us were sitting in her living room ranting and cracking jokes. I was rehearsing the lines in my head, thinking of ways to pop the sentence to them. I finally settled on “Hey guys, thank you for always being there for me and listening to me complain, even though you don’t know what I’m saying half the time.” I knew the last line would make them laugh and go on a rampage …show more content…
On the way there, we were cracking jokes about school and I decided this was a good time to tell them. This time around, I got up to “By the way guys, thank you for…” before Alex cut me off and said “Wait are you doing the English assignment thing? Mahika mentioned it to me yesterday when we were facetiming!” Before I knew it, Jay and Alex were yelling nonsense at each other back and forth before I yelled “YA DUM DUMS I was trying to thank you for being loyal unlike the rest of our friends and listening to me but…” I dramatically rolled my eyes to be petty, “I guess you don’t care. Whatever. I’ll go live a sad lonely life while you guys go hang out with your Colonia friends, who you obviously appreciate more.” There was dead silence for a split second, and all of a sudden I heard Jay yell “SHEAA” out of shock and humor, as he knew I was kidding, and Alex’s obnoxious laugh (reminiscent of a hyena) filling the car. Following the experience, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, as I don’t really let my loved ones know how much I loved them until it was too late. It was a regret I had about my grandpa’s death and telling that to

I miss them already. Despite the freezing cold snow and the nipping air, we had a lovely Christmas break. As I inspect my child, now grown with children of her own, holding tickets back to their home, longing envelopes me. Hoards of people push past, unaware of my pain, on their own schedules and heading toward different trains, talking and texting on their cell phones. My family boards, time as if in slow-motion, and waves goodbye until I see them again.…

On Monday, November 28, 2016, my family and I had dinner your restaurant to celebrate Thanksgiving Holiday. As a loyal customer who have been eating in your restaurant for two years, I was not happy at my recent dining experience at Homey Buffet during that time. Because of this, I would like Homey Buffet to grant my $360 refund request. I made a reservation a month ago for 15 people (9 adults, 6 kids) on the phone and speak to the hostess, Alyssa, who told me that my reservation has been scheduled smoothly. However by the time we arrived, we were told by same hostess that our reservation was lost and to wait 45 minutes in cold temperature outside.…

It doesn't matter if you speak to a thousand people on a daily basis because frankly that's not really you but a cover to hide who you really are. The real you, on the other hand, is kept in the dark and isolated, never spoken of by others. I know this because I'm a prime example of someone who hides who they really are.…

The summer after my seventh-grade year, I encountered a new perspective on life. The day I had a change in perspective, I had a softball game at this complex in Springfield. About 20 minutes into our first game, I felt a change in atmosphere. It all started when I played second base and these obnoxious, loud sirens started going off around the big town of Springfield. After our perfect inning of three outs, I noticed my parents missing from the crowd cheering me on.…

My mother and family feel the same way about my friends that are different than us. One year while I was in college during the Easter break I had to stay an extra day at school. While I was there I noticed that there were still some girls left at school in my sorority house. I asked why they weren’t going home for the weekend and they told me that they were Jewish so it wasn’t an important holiday to be home. There was no reason to go home if their families were not all getting together.…
