According to Hulton (2007), teenage pregnancy is influenced by environmental factors such as peer pressure, the communities and the schools. In testing whether or not practicing abstinence was effective, Hulton used the logic framework model. This model serves as a useful guide for school nurses when implementing health programs in the school. The program was named “Vision of You,” and it was designed to help encourage students to practice abstinence. This program educated the students about the effects of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The population consisted of voluntary high school students in the rural community. I’ve learned that there are various ways in which social workers could play a role in reducing teen pregnancy. For example, some parents do not feel comfortable talking to their children about sex, but a social worker can speak for the parents who are afraid to disclose that type of information. In the school systems, most female teens think that just because of their situation, they are not capable of finishing school, but social workers can empower the teens. They could also help with outside organizations, healthcare, and childcare services, that way the female teen will not feel overwhelmed and would feel as if they have a support
