John Knowles novel a “Separate Peace “ is an interpretation of his viewings of the intractable dark part of adolescence, including the significant influence World War II had in the formation of character in the younger generations.
In the course of Knowles’s novel we witness various character transformations. Most transformations portray the challenge of growing up and finding ones own personal identity, given external circumstances.
The novel is written from the main protagonist Gene´s Forrester point of view. In consideration of that, we witness the most change in Gene´s character.
