In consonance with the bible for christianity, when Eve was bamboozled from picking from the apple tree, evil had became a factor to human nature, and in conjunction with the human heart. When imputed about evil, it includes envy, jealousy, covetousness, and immortality ect. Gene’s character is someone who is smart, thoughtful, and an overachiever. Even though Gene did push off his best friend and roommate off a tree, it were caused by natural human feelings. In order to see where in the spectrum in diversity of good and evil Gene falls into, analyzing both sides is a good opening. In order to know if someone is a good person, understanding how they react in atrocious situations is a start. In the scene where Gene pushed off Finny from the tree, Gene was filled with guilt, and regret. Gene went all the way to the outskirts of Boston just to confess to Finny from his Guilt, and shame. Gene said “ I don’t care who i sound like, and you won’t think so when tell you. This is the worst thing in the world, and i’m sorry and i hate to tell you but i’ve got to tell you” (Knowles, 59). If Gene had never really care about Finny, he would lie to himself that it was just an accident and get over it. Finny on the other hand is someone who does care for Gene, and he vocalizes that Gene is his best pal. Finny said “ at this teen-age period in life the proper person is your best pal, which is what you are” (Knowles, 40). When Finny had saved Gene’s life from grabbing him from falling off the tree. Gene said “I was beginning to see that Phineas could get away with anything. I couldn't help envying him that a little, which was perfectly normal. There was no harm in envying even your best friend a little” (Knowles, 18). In Gene’s judgement Finny is the most perfect human being at Devon, but scholastically he is not. In Finny’s mind Gene is someone very intelligent, and responsible. Finny is not a bad person, but Gene believes that he is his worst enemy. Gene said “ If i was the head of the class and won that prize, then we would be even” (Knowles, 44). The nature of envy is something very untaught, it’s something you can’t control from jealousy. Evil can posses the human heart and mind, and it can affect savagery operations. From Gene’s enemy of fear and envy he had learned and that was the point where he left his childhood at Devon. Gene said “I never killed anybody and I never developed an intense level of hatred for the enemy. Because my war ended before I ever put on a uniform; I was on active duty all my time at school; I killed my enemy there. Only Phineas never was afraid, only Phineas never hated anyone.” (Knowles, 196). In diversity good and evil usually come from the human heart not from the outside world, because in
