There are two main types of lung cancer; the first type is small cell cancer. Small cell cancer is exclusively in heavy smokers and less common than non-small cell lung cancer. Non-small cell cancer is the umbrella term used for several different types. Non-small cell cancer includes squamous cell carcinoma, which are flat cells that line the inside of the airways in the lungs (Mayo Clinic). Lung functions are very important to the body. Single cell organisms called amoebas move freely and takes oxygen needed from its surrounding.
