The alveoli cell is apart of the respiratory system. The respiratory system includes the mouth, nose, throat, lungs, and more. It takes in oxygen either through the nose or mouth and removes the carbon dioxide, this is also called respiration. When you take in air your ribs contract lifting them and letting the lungs fill with the oxygen. Once the air is in your body it travels through small holes until it reaches the Alveoli. It then moves from the throat or pharynx to the windpipe …show more content…
The alveoli is made up of tiny air sockets, it is extremely thin and is lined with a fluid layer. The alveoli is supported by tons of numerous capillaries, and has a large surface area related to volume. Sime functions of the Alveoli are that the cell does gas exchange, once the air reaches the alveoli it diffuses and is joined with other cells and enters the bronchial passage, helping with gas exchange. The alveoli are particular to mammalian lungs. The main function of the Alveoli is to assist with the process of gas exchange. During inhalation capillaries expand as a negative pressure in the chest is created by contraction of the diaphragm.
The Alveoli cell has multiple malfunctions that can occur. The main malfunction is Lung Cancer. Lung cancer is a tumor in the lungs. Lung cancer can lead to death if not treated fast enough. Side effects of lung cancer are back pain, loss of weight, cough, fatigue, and more. Lung Cancer is very serious, scientist have not yet found a cure. One way to prevent lung cancer is to avoid smoking and being around smokers. When inhaling smoke it hurts your lungs. This is a main malfunction of the alveoli cell.
The alveoli is very important to the body. It is apart of the respiratory system. It allows air to enter the lungs and give the human body oxygen. It can be effected in many different ways. If something tragic were to happen the human body could
