According to Edgar Schein – The culture of an organization does not develop in a day, instead it is formed from over time as employees go through a variety of changes, adapting to the complexity of the external environment as well as problem solving (Mubin, M., 2014). It is through past experiences and commitment that formed the culture of the organization. Newly joined employees will have to adapt to the new culture to enjoy a stress free life (Management Study Guide, 2013).

Which means that people of China accept power does not distribute equally, hierarchy in the organization is acceptable and authority must be respected. Alibaba’s priorities are customer first, employee second and shareholder third (Greeven, M. J., 2014). Like many other entrepreneurs, the main objective is to earn profit. However, Jack Ma also understands the importance of employees as well in an organization. Jack Ma believes in satisfying the interest of customers and employees, it will eventually satisfy the shareholders. In order to success, teamwork and cooperation is necessary for the organization to strive forward. Jack ma relates his belief of teamwork and cooperation to a well-oiled soccer team where 11 players work together for the success of the team (The New York Times Company, 2015). He feels that small is beautiful and it is about everybody contributing their parts (The New York Times Company, 2015). In order to break the traditional power distance, Alibaba has hosts annual talent shows and Jack Ma is usually perform in the shows (REV Asia, 2015). At a company anniversary event, he dressed up as a punk rocker for a performance in front of 20,000 Alibaba employees. Starting with only 50000 RMB, Jack Ma has learnt to use money wisely. Many businessmen failed not because of no money but failed because they had too much money. To Jack Ma, when people tend to solve problems with money, this is when the real problem comes. He believes that if money can settle a problem, it is not a problem. Money is just a tactic/tool to tackle the problems. It is through his beliefs that now Alibaba is one of the most cash reserve company in the internet business industry. Jack Ma feels that money is just like a military force, it should not be use lightly. However, once mobilize, you must win. As technology is changing so fast, Jack Ma feels that it is not wise to plan. Few years down the line, technology will be different from what it is today. There is a quote from Robert Frost “The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected”. By not understanding technology, this is a great opportunity for Jack Ma to be the product tester. As Jack Ma has once said “I'm not a tech guy. I'm looking at the technology with the eyes of my customers, normal people's eyes.” (BrainyQuote, 2015). It is through this point of view, he is able to understand what his customers’ needs and wants are.
