Reading:
Hunter is currently receiving services in the ICR Reading class. He has good initial background information and can apply his outside knowledge when reading texts in class. He contributes to class discussion, and will add details from his personal experiences when applicable. Based on the CORE Phonics Survey - Reading and Decoding administered on November 9, 2016, Hunter is reading at 123 wcpm wcpm with 100% accuracy. The CORE Vocabulary Screening (6th grade) was also administered and he scored 26/30 (Benchmark level). A Student who scores at a Benchmark level or between 75% or more correct has adequate vocabulary knowledge for typical reading. On the San Diego Quick Assessment of Reading Ability, Hunter was able to read word at a 5th grade level independently, 6th grade - instructional level and 7th grade - frustration level.

Hunter tested out on the Phonological awareness, Phonics and High Frequency Words. Hunter scored at 4th grade level on the Vocabulary domain of the assessment, 4th grade level on the Comprehension of Literature and 5th grade level on the Informational Text. The result of the Comprehension component of the assessment indicates that he has difficulty analyzing characters as well as making inferences. The deficits in the vocabulary and comprehension can impact his ability to access the grade-level standard course of study, thus he will continue to need the special education support to address his academic
