Doctors have recently found a way to put poop into pills to help cure Clostridium Difficile, or C-diff. C-diff is when bacteria in your intestines explode and release toxins attacking the lining of your intestines. About a half of a million people get C-diff each year, and about 14,000 die from it. There are fecal transplants that also cure C-diff, but they’re painful and expensive. Enemas are just like fecal transplants, but use liquid instead of actual feces. Enemas sometimes don’t even take hold. The new poop pill treatment starts with patients taking antibiotics days before they actually take the pills to kill C-diff.
