C. Diff Informative Speech

Decent Essays
Tiffany,
I found your post to be very informative. I would like to add that C. diff can become very dangerous according to The Mayo Clinic, it can cause kidney failure and inflammation in the colon. Other symptoms include diarrhea, blood in the stool, weight loss, nausea, and pus in the stool. As you had mentioned in your post C. diff is more prominently seen in patients who’ve been in the hospital and who have been on antibiotics. I found it interesting to read in Science daily that C. diff reoccurs in 20 percent of patients who have suffered from the disease. The reoccurrence of C. diff is from the gut flora being disrupted by the antibiotics and the drugs used to treat the disease. (Science Daily, 2016).

An informative speech is a speech where you are educating an audience on a topic that they may not know much about, while a persuasive speech uses a bias opinion to persuade the audience to change their opinion about a topic. A persuasive speech may also be informative because of the information it contains, but an informative speech will never be persuasive. The reason behind this is in order to persuade the audience to take your side in a matter they may also need to be informed more about the topic before making their decision, making this a persuasive speech. An informative speech will never contain persuasive information (Brewer, G., 2001).…

Just as with all things in nature, living things learn to adapt and evolve to protect themselves against constant threats to their survival. For this reason each time an antibiotic is used, all of the bacteria in a human system that comes into contact with is given an opportunity to mutate and pass on it’s newly modified genes thus creating an entirely new strand of antibiotic resistant bacteria. Often this strand is created as a result of improper dosage of antibiotics, which means the person taking them is likely still sick and at a high risk of passing on the new strand to others. The person who gets sick from the new strand of antibiotic resistant bacteria will have an even harder time kicking the bug, and if they too do not fully and properly take the medication (which will be less effective now), they will be at a high risk of passing on the contagion as well.…
