Bullying Rumer Willis Summary

I learned that Rumer Willis was made fun of as a child. The star that went on Dancing with the Stars talked about how she was bullied on the show. Rumer told them that they called her “buttaface” and said that she looked like a man. These mean names led Rumor to believing she needed plastic surgery to look more feminine like her mother because the kids even told her she looked masculine like her father Bruce Willis.
I learned that peer buying leads to thoughts of suicide and even sometimes resulting in suicide. In fact 20% of kids in the United States consider suicide.

Over all, bullying is increasing and so is the amount of suicide among teens. Kathy Shaidle’s article “In Defense of Bullying” states that bullying is good on the development of youth to strive for more. That not many adolescence kill themselves due to bullying and anti-bullying actually is just creating more bullies. This outlook on bullying is ignoring that there has been a massive increase in self-harm amongst teenagers, why teens have been resorting to self-harm, how bullying actually affects lives, and how suicide and depression have become more widespread among adolescence. The article by Kathy supports no evidence that there aren’t that many suicides because of bullying and that bullying does not pose a massive problem for the well-being of youth.…

Similarly to the traditional bullying, cyberbullying consists of an intimidator or bully and a victim. In many situations, people generally take the victim’s side, because they appear weak and powerless. I believe that cyberbullying should be better regulated and not be protected under the First Amendment. Unlike other offensive acts like flag burning that illustrates disrespect, cyberbullying inflicts psychological and emotional harm that may potentially lead victims into committing negative acts. I believe that the First Amendment should be revised to adjust to today’s social situation, especially in terms of technology.…

In William Golding’s article, Why Boys Become Vicious, he stated, “But what must be true is that we can be twisted and distorted beyond recognition by the guidance—or lack of it—that we absorb directly from our families. If there is no one around to guide children, then they go wrong.” He also expresses a similar idea in his book, The Lord of The Flies, when a group of boys are abandoned on an island and must work towards getting rescued while also preserving humanity. This is experienced through the eyes of the main characters Ralph, Piggy, Jack and Simon. Golding proclaims the theme that if one does not tend to the agitating ways of savagery, it can spread and destroy, by using two predominant symbols in the book, the painted mask and fire.…

What is suicide? Suicide is a death arising from an act inflicted upon oneself with the intent to kill oneself (Andriessen, 2006). History shows that suicide was unacceptable and if you committed the horrible act you were not allowed to be buried in the church cemetery, because you were deemed to have been evil and the corps would be severely beaten to allow the evil spirits to be released from the body. Another punishment for committing suicide was that your family lost all of their property and was forced to leave the community.…

All bullying causes stress and make someone feel less worthy of themselves, which can lead to suicide. For example, many students feel as if when they tease another student its funny and entertaining but its not, when you laugh at someone because they can’t afford to wear the latest clothes, that can hurt their feelings, when really they don 't know if that student can’t afford to buy clothes, like when teasing someone because they have pimples, or being too skinny or too fat. Word, physical or sexual abusive can tear someone apart emotionally and physically, it can cause so much harm that it can even cause someone to kill themselves. Another tragic story from Thomas J. Billitteri is of 11 year old Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover who hung himself in April 2009 after bullies repeatedly called him gay; his death helped prompt Massachusetts to pass a strict anti-bullying law last spring. It’s horrible to hear such grievous stories of young children ending their existence due to harsh comments from bullies. On the other hand bullying can lead to destructive behavior, which can lead to children bringing guns to school to seek revenge on those who have wrongfully treated them. Such as a seventh-grader at DeKalb High School in DeKalb, Missouri Nathan Feris that had more than enough after enduring four years of taunting from other children who called him “chubby” and…
