Imagine you are the reason that more than 160,000 kids stay home from school each day. You’re the reason that suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people. Would you sit back and watch as the girl who sits in front of you in math falls face first on the floor because the most popular girl in school trips her, or would you speak up? All it takes is ten seconds to put bullying to a stop, but most people are too scared to get involved. We live in a society where bullying is handled by adults saying, “kids will be kids,” or “oh they’ll be friends again tomorrow.” Nobody wants the problem to be theirs when really the problem is everyone’s. It is not uncommon for the adolescence to roam the halls with black eyes and bloody fists. One out of four students report being bullied. That leaves three students who suffer on their own. The aftermath of bullying can be brutal, even fatal. “There are several types of bullying, however, the most common types of bullying are; cyber bullying, physical bullying, verbal bullying, and relational aggression.” Because bullying comes in all forms and from all places students fear being alone, opening their computer, or even being in public places. Since a difference can be made if just one person speaks up, imagine yourself in the victim 's shoes, instead of watching them reach their breaking point, be the voice that puts bullying to an end.
