Cataract 3 Bridget Riley’s painting Cataract 3 plays with the viewers vision. Cataract 3 is a 88.5 x 87.5 inches which is approximately the size of a double glass sliding door. Riley was widely know for painting in black and white until 1967, the year Cataract 3 was created. This piece is considered Op Art because it creates an optical sensation of movement through the manipulation and reposition of lines. Riley uses both horizontal and diagonal curved lines with different scales. The lines widen and close throughout the canvas to create the illusion that the lines are weaving.
