Box turtles are a North turtle, there scientific name is terrapene carolina. Box turtles hibernate in the winter and mate during the spring. Box turtle can curl up inside their shell and hide or sleep. But, the box turtle has been put on the endangered species list because of predators, humans and the environment.
One reason the box turtle is endangered is because of its predators. The box turtle has many predators like skunks, foxes, and more. Some of the predators like to dig up the nest and eat the young of the box turtle. Box turtles are very slow when they move that makes them easy to catch. The box turtle uses it shell to protect them from the predators. Where the box turtle is very slow it sometimes doesn’t make it into his shell
