Reading Beams, a reporter for slate, article “Blood Loss”, he conveys his reader to understand how people take a fixation to crime and violence on the media, provoking the human body to show similar behaviors (358-363). One of the ways Beam portrays the media to encourage bad behavior is when he mentions the “minor snowball effect, offering a short path to celebrity” (359). When he expresses the “minor snowball effect” he is notifying his readers that peoples “growing obsession with serial killers” was once small but grew exponentially at a fast pace “offering a short path to celebrity.” for the serial killers causing havoc (359). Another way readers could look at this quote is that there are some people who are mentally disturbed, and want their name to be remembered. While instead of working hard to become famous, they rather kill, as crime is a “short path to celebrity” (359). The television plays a big role of violence because people have created many shows and movies that involves dangerous activities. Even when watching the television some may receive different messages in passages than other. A great example that follows Beams connection to violence that the media has caused would be our presidential election two years ago. In today’s world, there are billions of people, and everyone has a different developing mind. When taking in the gruesome news some people become fearful of the events causing them to react in a safer way; such as, protecting themselves and telling themselves that they would never do that. While others become fixated on crime and begin to fantasize about it. Parental figures allow their young children to watch television, and it enables children to watch whatever they desire. When children are not taught from what is wrong from right, they may believe that violence is the correct way to solve problems. Not everyone is in the right state of mind, so it depends on what kind of censor the media has on the abominable news they allow all to see. The most influential reporting is the news channel on the television. It allows people to listen to the tragic event, but if the reporter only tells one-half of the victims story how can people truly know what their feelings are towards the subject. Listening to one side of the story could cause someone to feel angry and cause a stir up, making them want violence. Another person may feel the complete opposite wondering, how such event could happen, and that they wish they could help. The impact that media has made on humans is greatly influential and it is irreversible. The media has taken over the world and frankly, there is no turning back. Everything that
