In the United States, there are approximately 11.4 million illegal immigrants. An immigrant is a person who goes to a foreign country with the intention of living there permanently. The part that makes an immigrant illegal is that he does not obtain citizenship or the right papers he needs in order to live in the country legally. An immigrant will move to the United States for many reasons. His home country may lack basic food, medical care, and work, ultimately, an immigrant desires a better life. Illegal immigrants will work doing anything, such as taking care of children, landscaping work, or even selling ice cream. According to the article “Poll: Half Say Immigrants Not Taking Jobs,” UPI Top News states that “49 percent believe the immigrants are doing jobs legal residents would refuse.” Many immigrants do jobs that citizens wouldn 't want to do such as working at National Beef. If no one wants to do the job and we have people that will do the job, then what 's the problem? Citizens have many opportunities to get a job, it is just the lack of motivations. No one wants to work hard, everyone wants it easy. For an illegal immigrant, it is all about making a better life for themselves and for their families, even if that means they have to work a double shift or getting more than one job. As long as their family has a roof over their head and food in their stomachs, it is okay. Illegal immigrants do anything in order to make money. Some undocumented immigrants are so desperate, they 'd create their own jobs. In the summer, many of them get a cooler and put popsicles in them and walk down the streets, selling them to anyone in hopes of making fifty cents or a dollar just so that they could feed their family. Many citizens complain about illegal immigrants taking our jobs, but if the citizen goes to college, there shouldn 't be any competition against the immigrant. Many illegal immigrants aren 't able to go to college and even if they could, they wouldn 't be able to afford it. So the immigrant is stuck with working at fast food places, or even cleaning houses.
